Jordan Robinson

Hello, my name is Jordan Robinson and I am newest member of the Teachings in the Air podcast, Indigenous Youth Wellness, and PHSA teams. I am from the Ahousat and Hesquiat nations on the Coast of Vancouver Island. I am a 2020 graduate of the Radio Arts and Entertainment Program from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT).

It is an honour to be part of such a great team. Everyone has been so warm and welcoming to me, because it’s a nerve-racking thing these days to hop into any new environment. Especially since the last place I was at routinely with other people was my school time at BCIT. The routine from seeing classmate’s daily in-person to mainly immediate family since the lockdown. Let’s just say change and adjustment had me feeling a little anxious about re-entering the work space. The Indigenous Youth Wellness team, Teachings in the Air, and PHSA crew have definitely helped me along with their acceptance and kindness.

I am super appreciative of any opportunity, but just to know that you can set a goal and achieve it. Schooling, graduating, finding a place for myself was part of a few year plan that I made for the very first time. It is so good to know I can apply myself to something and follow through. I didn’t succeed at everything, but the real reward is knowing I can try. It wasn’t always my best attempts but I can make it through, and that’s a huge reward in its own.

I am currently just expressing my scattered thoughts that usually come with thinking about where I currently sit. It’s reflecting on the past and present, comparing and contrasting, and a whole lot of appreciation. The work environment has been so great, they encourage creativity, ideas, and sharing. I didn’t realize how important that was to me until I experienced it here. I look forward to creating amazing content, and being able to share our voices with you all. I’m thankful to be part of such an awesome team!
